JoJo Herrera – On-Air Radio Personality & Media Professional
JoJo Herrera is a seasoned on-air radio personality and media professional with a career spanning over four decades. Born and raised in Pearsall, Texas, JoJo graduated from Pearsall High School in 1981 and began his journey in radio just before graduation at local station KVWG.
His passion for broadcasting led him to Corpus Christi, where he worked at KCCT alongside Manuel Davila. After several successful years there, JoJo relocated to San Antonio, where he left his mark on some of the city’s most iconic Tejano radio stations. He worked at KEDA, was one of the original night shift hosts at KBUC, and became a foundational voice at the launch of KXTN AM. Over the years, he also contributed his talent to stations including La M Grande, KRIO, Radio Festival, and KLMO.
Beyond radio, JoJo expanded his media expertise into television. He worked in production and as a cameraman for KMOL-TV/WOAI, contributing to the 5AM and 6AM newscasts as well as the SA Living show. His versatility in media also includes freelance work for KLRN, ESPN, and LCTV Broadcast Production Services. JoJo has even appeared on the big screen, earning credits as an extra in several films including Selena, Rough Riders, and All the Pretty Horses.
Today, JoJo continues to fuel his passion for Tejano/Conjunto music and community through his roles as a co-owner of Tejano Up Radio, Tejano Weekend Warriors, Toy for Tejanitos, and Tejano Up Radio—organizations dedicated to promoting Tejano culture and music.
